Anne Pham-Huy

Dr. Anne Pham-Huy is a Canadian pediatric infectious diseases and immunology specialist based in Ottawa, Ontario.

Education

Pham-Huy completed her medical degree at the University of Ottawa in 2003 and her subspecialty training in pediatric infectious diseases at McGill University in 2008. She also pursued additional training in clinical immunology at CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal, and the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto from 2007 to 2008.1) From 2004-2008, she completed her residency training in pediatrics at the Montreal Children's Hospital.

She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with a speciality in pediatrics, and sub-specialty certificate in infectious diseases.

Career and Affiliations

Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario

Since 2009, Pham-Huy has been employed at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) where she is the lead physician for the primary immunodeficiency clinic affiliated with the University of Ottawa, at which is also an Assistant Professor.2) She is the Program Director of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Training Program at CHEO.

She is cross-appointed to the Ottawa Hospital.

Canadian Medical Association

From 2003-2018, Pham-Huy was a member of the Canadian Medical Association.3)

Canadian Association of Gastroenterology

In October 2019, Pham-Huy participated in a closed meeting on Immunization Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG). CAG is sponsored by AbbVie, Amgen, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Fresenius Kabi, MD Financial Management, Medtronic, Olympus Therapeutics, Organon, Pendopharm, PENTAX Medical, Pfizer, and Takeda.4) She appears to be a member of CAG, as she has also co-authored CAG immunization guidelines.5)

Public Health Agency of Canada

Pham-Huy is a member of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), and formerly acted as a liaison representative for the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (AMMI) Canada.6) 7) In these roles, she contributed to the approval of COVID-19 vaccines in Canada.

Immunize Canada

Pham-Huy is the current chair for Immunize Canada, a not-for-profit coalition of organizations with a specific interest in promoting the understanding and use of vaccines.

Canadian Immunization Research Network

Pham-Huy is a researcher with the Canadian Immunization Research Network (CIRN), which is funded by GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, and Sanofi.8) 9)

Research

Pham-Huy's research interests include the diagnosis and management of primary immunodeficiencies, infections in the immunocompromised host and immunization in special populations.

COVID-19

Pham-Huy is conducting COVID-19 research including the PITCH study, VISID Study, PATCH Study, and the Canadian Immunization Research Network.10)

Funding

Her research funding has come from the Canadian Immunization Research Network, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.11)

CANImmunize provided funding for a guideline published by the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology.12) CANImmunize is partnered with Pfizer and Sanofi.13)

She has also received honoraria from the University of Calgary and the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.14)

She conducted research on waning immunity and vaccination responses in children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia with Prevnar 13 products provided in-kind by Pfizer.15)

She participated in a study funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.16)
