Ivermectin for the Prevention or Treatment of COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic, ivermectin has been one of the most controversial drugs despite an enormously positive body of evidence.

“When adjusted for residual variables, reduction in mortality rate was 70%. After adjustment for residual variables, reduction in hospitalization rate was 67%.
Conclusion: In this large PSM study, regular use of ivermectin as a prophylactic agent was associated with significantly reduced COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and mortality rates.”

Meta-Analyses of Ivermectin Efficacy
- Nov, 2021 | Andrew Hill et al: Meta-analysis of
- In August, 2021, researchers Andrew Bryant, Theresa Lawrie and others published a meta-analysis of ivermectin's efficacy in treating COVID-19 in the American Journal of Therapeutics. They concluded, “Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin. Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. The apparent safety and low cost suggest that ivermectin is likely to have a significant impact on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic globally.”
- Randomized Trials of Ivermectin to Treat SARS-CoV-2 Infection
A meta-analysis published by Roman et al in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases was met with heavy scrutiny by statistician Mathew Crawford and others.
- A Bayesian re-analysis of the evidence presented in the Bryant and Roman papers, written by Martin Neil and Norman Fenton, and published in a Letter to the Editor in the American Journal of Therapeutics, suggested that the included evidence demonstrated a likelihood of efficacy: “Taking this into account, there is clearly an effective RR and RD in support of ivermectin in the severe case: The probability of the RR being less than one is 90.7%. The case for ivermectin mortality improvement in mild/moderate cases is less clear: The probability of the RR being less than one is 84.1%, but it is more survivable in this case and there are fewer “events” to learn from.”
Empirical Medicine
Many physicians around the world have used ivermectin as a prophylaxis or treatment for COVID-19 patients. • Dr. Peter McCullough • Dr. Brian Tyson • Dr. Ira Bernstein • Dr. Richard Urso • Dr. Ryan Cole • Dr. Shankara Chetty • Dr. George Fareed • Dr. Pierre Kory • Dr. Paul Marik
Critiques of Ivermectin Research
- On August 12, 2021 David Fuller published “On Vaccine Safety, Ivermectin and the Dark Horse Podcast: An Investigation” that is a long, mostly fact-free attack on ivermectin proponents.
- The BBC ran an article on October 6, 2021, suggesting that a large body of the evidence in support of ivermectin is “false science” in support of a “COVID 'miracle' drug”.

- * Dr. John Campbell created a video pushing back at the BBC analysis.

Propaganda Campaign
As ivermectin became a popular medicine used to treat COVID-19 patients, many mainstream media outlets run rhetorically damning stories. The purpose of these stories seems to be to justify withholding the medication, or even censuring physicians using it to treat patients. The following articles may or may not intentionally be part of the a propaganda campaign. The authors could simply be morons, which is not terribly uncommon in “science journalism”.

Court Cases
Many hospitals have issued new administrative policies which restrict doctors from prescribing ivermectin to treat patients with Covid-19. Upon refusal, many patients have resorted to filing lawsuits against hospitals to receive the treatment. Below is a list of these court cases:
