Unissant was founded on August 19, 1999, possibly under the name b.i.methods (or BIMethods).2) The company was a protege to Science Applications International Corporation - SAIS under the Treasury Mentor-Protege program.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection
In November 2020, Unissant was awarded a $182.3 million contract to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s passenger vetting systems, the Targeting and Analysis Systems Program Directorate (TASPD). This contract was awarded under the National Institutes of Health (NIH) CIO-SP3 Small Business Government Wide Acquisition Vehicle.4) The company is partnered on the project with Linkware and Science Applications International Corp.
Unissant also won a $47.2 million order to develop analysis and targeting software in addition to managing the CBP's “big data” cluster. Centrifuge and Rock Elm are partnered with Unissant for the second award.5)
