Gryphon Scientific is an American scientific consulting company based in Takoma Park, Maryland.

History

Gryphon was founded in 2005.

In April 2015, Gryphon sought to hire a Lead Scientist with “secret” level security clearance to join the Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program at Fort Detrick, Maryland.1) In December 2015, Gryphon released a draft report of a study conducted in collaboration with Abt Associates and Signature Science between March and December examining the risks and benefits of gain of function research, funded by the National Institutes of Health.2) 3)

In May 2020, Open Philanthropy awarded Gryphon a $2,000,000 grant over three years “to support the generation of empirical data to fill critical gaps in biosafety,” and to “analyze lab safety measures, with the aim of reducing the probability of catastrophic accidents.”4)

In September 2022, Gryphon participated as an exhibitor at OPTIONS XI, a conference on the control of influenza and COVID-19, in Belfast, England.5)
