Drug Information Association

The Drug Information Association (DIA) is an international non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C.

History

On October 10, 1962, U.S. President John F. Kennedy signed into law the Kefauver-Harris amendments to the US Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act of 1938, following the discovery that thalidomide cause birth defects in babies of pregnant mothers who took the drug for morning sickness.1)

The DIA was founded in 1964, a move “closely tied” to the sweeping amendments.2)
