COVID-19
On March 10, 2023, Tufekci published an op-ed in the New York Times criticizing the findings and authors of a Cochrane review which did not find evidence for safety or efficacy of wearing face masks for prevention of COVID-19 or protection from spread of SARS-CoV-2.1) Paul Thacker responded five days later by pointing out she had failed to disclose her own competing “study” which itself was a limited narrative review.2)
