Stanley Plotkin

Stanley Alan Plotkin is an American physician who specializes in vaccines.

History

In July 2015, the New England Journal of Medicine published a paper co-authored by Plotkin, Jeremy Farrar and Adel Mahmoud, calling for the formation of a global funding mechanism for vaccine development.1) This idea later became the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) which launched at the World Economic Forum in 2017 with funding from Wellcome Trust, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and a number of national governments.2)

In a 2015 disclosure of interest, Plotkin revealed he received personal fees from Dynavax, Emergent BioSolutions, Geovax, HOOKIPA Pharma, Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Merck, Pfizer, and Sanofi Pasteur.3)
