Ian Preyra

Dr. Ian James Robert Preyra is a Canadian physician based in Burlington, Ontario.

Education

Preyra is a graduate of Queen’s University where he received his M.D. in 1999, followed by his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business at York University in 2003. He then completed advanced leadership training at the DeGroote School of Business and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

He was certified as a Chartered Director by The Directors College in July 2021.1)

He completed pre-medical training at the University of Toronto and a residency at McMaster University.

Career

Hamilton Health Sciences (2001-2015)

Preyra worked as a clinical associate from 2001-2003, then as trauma team leader at Hamilton Health Sciences from 2004-2015.

Halton Healthcare (2004-2007)

Preyra worked as an attending emergency physician at Halton Healthcare from 2004-2007.

William Osler Health System (2004-2015)

Preyra worked as an attending emergency physician and Clinical Teaching Unit Director in Emergency Medicine at William Osler Health System.

St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (2004-present)

Preyra has worked as an Attending Emergency Physician at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton since 2004. He served as acting Chief of Staff from 2015-2016, and then Deputy Chief of Staff from 2016-2018.2) 3)

Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General (2008-present)

Preyra has worked at the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General as an investigative coroner since 2008.

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (2009-present)

Preyra was hired as an Examiner in Emergency Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2009.4)

McMaster University (2010-present)

Preyra served as the Director for the Training Program in Emergency Medicine at McMaster University from 2010-2014, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Medicine.5)

Charlton Medical Billing Services (2012-present)

Preyra has been President of Charlton Medical Billing Services since 2012.6)

College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (2014-present)

Preyra is an Elected Professional Member for District 4 at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).7)
