Hey Volunteers!
The easiest way to navigate the wiki is by clicking the Site Map link at the top right hand corner of the screen.
Create and Edit Pages, Insert Links
Here's a basic how-to guide. For more in depth information see the syntax page or Dokuwiki's how-to page
Edit pages by clicking the Pencil Icon on the right side of the screen or by hitting the edit button for the section you want to edit. Looking to see what others have done in the past is a good way to learn how to format text you write.
Create new pages by either making a link to them and clicking it, see below, or by typing in the new link in your browser's search bar.
Example: This page's link is https://www.campfire.wiki/doku.php?id=how_to_contribute If I want to create a page on apples I would modify it to be https://www.campfire.wiki/doku.php?id=apples. If I then hit enter it will take me to a new blank page with the name apples. If I upload a file or add text to the page, the new page will be created.
You can create a new page by making an internal link to it. Links have a double bracket([) opening and closing (]). Inside you put the namespace (folder name) and then colon and the page name.
ex. Making the page 'example' would be double-bracket open example double-backet closed.
[[example]]
To make an external link, it's the same, but you'll do open brackets, site link| Display Text closed brackets.
ex. Linking to Mathew's substack would be
[[https://roundingtheearth.substack.com|Mathew's Substack]]
Page Names
General
Page names are difficult to change and require the page to be deleted and remade. Therefore, the name should be thought out prior to the page being made.
- Pages are listed in alphabetical order by name in the Sitemap. Page names should be worded such that they group together in the list. Example: Stories of COVID-19 Vaccine Injuries should be named COVID-19 Vaccine Injury Stories to be grouped appropriately.
- Page names for people should not contain the person's title. Example: the page for Dr. Robert Malone is named Robert Malone, not Dr. Robert Malone.
- The pandemic will be called by the disease name as in the COVID-19 Pandemic. Pages named SARS-CoV-2 should discuss the virus itself.
- Pages with COVID-19 in the name should be written with a hyphen between the COVID and 19. Similarly SARS-CoV-2 should include appropriate hyphens.
Singular vs Plural
Page names that discuss a broad class should use the singular form of the topic. Page names that discuss or list specific items should use the plural of the topic.
Simple Example: A page on the corgi breed of dogs would be called Corgi, singular. While a page on specific corgis would use the plural.
Relevant Example: A page describing what a vaccine is would be called Vaccine whereas a page on COVID-19 vaccines should be named COVID-19 Vaccines.
What to Contribute
This wiki is for informative writing only. For argumentative writing, OU members can submit articles to be reviewed for publication on the Operation Uplift Substack.
Information written here should be sourced and the source should be provided. Whenever possible links should be archived using an archiving site. This takes a snapshot of the linked site when it is archived and allows continued access to the linked page, even if the page is later edited or removed.
While Campfire Wiki is expected to eventually grow beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic, filling out pages related to the pandemic is our first priority now and it is expected that most work contributed by volunteers will be in the same vein.
