Alberta Medical Association

The Alberta Medical Association (AMA) is a Canadian professional membership organization with offices in Edmonton and Calgary.

The AMA’s COVID-19 vaccine information page was last updated on January 19, 2022, and contains assertions that are incomplete, misleading or outright false.¹⁾

Further, AMA notes that doctors can bill for time spent trying to convince their “vaccine hesitant” patients to take the vaccine.²⁾ The organization offers a number of tips, tricks and “tools” to do this. One such resource is the Vaccine Hesitancy Guide, a website purpose-built by a number of official organizations such as the Alberta College of Family Physicians and Doctors Manitoba.³⁾ However, another contributor is 19 to Zero, a “health communications” initiative funded by Alberta Health Services, Alberta Innovates, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, University of Calgary, Pfizer, Merck, Moderna and GlaxoSmithKline.⁴⁾
