University Hospital Foundation

University Hospital Foundation is a Canadian charitable organization based in Edmonton, Alberta.

History

UHF was created in 1962 by an act of the Alberta legislature.1)

At the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) International Convention on June 4, 2019, the UHF announced the formation of three public-private philanthropic partnerships totalling nearly $8 million aimed at investigating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) using machine learning, diabetes and obesity, and health data analysis in the areas of oncology, gastroenterology, neuroscience and rare diseases.2) Partners in the ventures include BIOTECanada, Novo Nordisk, Boehringer Ingelheim and Takeda.

UHF raises funds for the University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic.3)
