Small Pox Vaccine History

*1900* In the early 1900s, the capitalist magnate Rockefeller already had a hand in the development of smallpox vaccine. Rockefeller’s pioneering virologist Tom Rivers (1888-1962) undertook to develop a safer vaccine by growing the virus in tissue culture. The result was an attenuated strain of virus that was better than the earlier vaccines produced in England. It was the first vaccine used in humans to be grown in tissue culture. 1)

*1926* American Home Products AHP was formed in 1926 but evolved largely under the same direction as Bayer, Hoechst and BASF, that is, from I.G. Farben /Rockefeller financial interests according to cancer investigator and author G. Edward Griffin.(24) During WWII, Ayerst Laboratories joined AHP and Wyeth International Limited was formed. This company went on to “perfect” the smallpox vaccine according to company promotions.

*1944* Dryvax, a smallpox vaccine, originally licensed in 1944 to Wyeth Laboratories, Inc. of Madison, N.J., was manufactured until the mid 1980s when the World Health Organization declared that smallpox had been eradicated. 2)

*1996* Robert C. Myers, DVM, Chief Operating Officer of BioPort America's only anthrax vaccine maker-appealed to a Senate Appropriations Committee for urgent funding for both anthrax and smallpox vaccines. In 1996, in his own words, he “was part of a team of organizations, led by Battelle Memorial Institute, which came together to compete for the Department of Defense's Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program JVAP. Despite there being dozens of potential *bioterrorist threats 3)

*2000* Rumsfeld was replaced at Gilead by Cordell W. Hull. Hull also serves as a director of Bechtel Group, Inc. Gilead's Smallpox Profits grew in 2001 as policy tries to make the smallpox vaccine REQUIRED by all first responders and military people in the US! Even though, by itself, the vaccine has been shown to be dangerous.

*2007* there is one licensed smallpox vaccine; ACAM2000, licensed on August 31, 2007, which is manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur Biologics Co. of Cambridge, MA and is based on the same strain of virus as Dryvax.

*2016* February 5, 2016 Approval Letter - ACAM2000 - To change the package insert to include clarifying revisions to Section 5 and to reflect the removal of the requirement to have a risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) Proper Name: Smallpox (Vaccinia) Vaccine, Live Tradename: ACAM2000 Manufacturer: *Emergent Product Development* Gaithersburg, Inc. 4)

Small Pox Bio-warfare Threats

*2001 June 22-23* the Johns Hopkins Center for Civilian Biodefense Strategies, in collaboration with the CSIS Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Analytic Services Institute for Homeland Security, and the Oklahoma National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism, held a senior-level exercise entitled “Dark Winter” that simulated a covert smallpox attack on the United States. The first such exercise of its kind, Dark Winter was constructed to examine the challenges that senior-level policy makers would face if confronted with a *bioterrorist attack* that initiated outbreaks of highly contagious disease. 5)

*2002 June 24* Statement on CDC PLAN TO RELEASE SMALLPOX VACCINE National Vaccine Information Center - Barbara Loe Fisher, President

The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), the oldest and largest vaccine safety advocacy organization in the U.S., endorses the June 21 decision by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the JUDITH MILLER and ERIC SCHMITT - New York Times

With the Bush administration moving closer to military action against Iraq, the Pentagon is expected to begin vaccinating up to half a million troops against smallpox as soon as the vaccine is licensed in mid-November, military and administration officials said today.

The officials said that leading military and civilian advisers to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, as well as his top medical experts, had recommended that the troops be inoculated 6)

*2002 November 8* Bush Considers Smallpox Vaccine for Troops By Mike Allen and Bradley Graham Washington Post

President Bush received a recommendation yesterday from Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to inoculate U.S. troops against smallpox but did not immediately accept it….

The question of whether to immunize U.S. forces is part of a larger dilemma that includes whether to vaccinate civilian health care workers and, eventually, the general public. Although routine smallpox vaccinations stopped in the United States in 1972, the matter has gained new urgency amid heightened concerns about biological warfare and *intelligence reports* citing four nations, including Iraq and North Korea, as having covert stocks of the smallpox pathogen. 7)

As for the present smallpox threat, the man charged with overseeing President Bush's mass vaccination policy was another Dark Winter alumnus, Jerry Hauer. Hauer, a former director of Kroll Associates - the security firm at the helm when the Twin Towers fell - is also the man who personally pulled strings in order to get senior FBI official John O'Neill his job as head of security at the World Trade Center….

James Woolsey, for example, was one of just 17 participants in a July 2001 bio-warfare exercise dubbed “Dark Winter,” a simulation of a mass smallpox attack, co-sponsored by the ANSER Institute of Homeland Security and the Center for Strategic and International Studies CSIS.

Among the other participants was Benador client Arnaud De Borchgrave and New York Times journalist Judith Miller, who had co-authored a book with Benador client Mylroie in the early '90's. Mylroie's book - an attempt at linking Iraq to 9/11 - was released just weeks after September 11 with a foreword written by James Woolsey. Around the same time, Judith Miller had just launched her own well-publicized book on the germ warfare threat - within a week or two of her own well-publicized role as one of the very few recipients of an “anthrax” mailing (which turned out not to be anthrax). 8)

*2005* Germ Boys and Yes Men ~ The Nation by By Jeremy Scahill Stewart Simonson is a former Amtrak corporate attorney with zero medical experience. So why is he in charge of emergency health and *bioterrorism* in the federal government?

The Administration declared it was taking charge of the nation’s health and security with an all-out war on the flu (to be conducted with vaccines provided by well-connected pharmaceutical companies). “Our country has been given fair warning of this danger to our homeland,” Bush declared. “It’s my responsibility as President to take measures now to protect the American people.” 9)

Lessons in Small Pox Vaccine History

As it became clear that the smallpox vaccine was unable able to prevent disease as initially promised, the medical profession moved the goal posts from lifelong “perfect” immunity to “milder disease” to justify vaccination, a tactic that has since repeated with other vaccination campaigns.

Mr. Henry May, writing to the Birmingham Medical Review, in January, 1874 reported that deaths as a result of vaccination were often not reported because of an allegiance to the practice. Often a vaccinated person was recorded as having died from another condition such as chicken pox or erroneously listed as unvaccinated.

This corruption of the vital statistics creates many challenges in assessing the efficacy of immunization, and is also why many authors have noted no metric can be used to assess COVID-19 immunizations except total number of deaths (independent of cause) as this cannot be fudged. Of note, a different significant overlap exists with the early Polio campaigns (also detailed within Dissolving Illusions), where “Polio” diagnostic criteria was repeatedly adjusted to meet the political need for Polio cases.

Governments responded to this skepticism by progressively using more and more force to mandate vaccination. Vaccination was made compulsory in England in 1853, with stricter laws passed in 1867. In the United States, Massachusetts created a set of comprehensive vaccination laws in 1855 (which created the Supreme Court case Jacobson v. Massachusetts a case that is frequently cited about state enforced vaccination). Lemuel Shattuck emphasized the need for vaccination and pushed for house-to-house vaccination to be enforced by the authority of the City of Boston in an 1856 report, also noting ““The City has already provided that no unvaccinated child shall be admitted into the public schools.”

Safe and Effective?

What the smallpox vaccine can teach us. Substack - March 15, 2022 by Dr. Robert Malone

There is another important element in the national vaccine program, which is the requirement to keep the vaccine production facilities up and running. These facilities are producing a biological product; they must be kept in production or the process for re-licensure is onerous, if not impossible. In the case of seasonal flu, one of the justifications for the yearly vaccine is to keep the manufacturing plants running and ready for business in case of a truly severe strain of flu or some other, unknown pathogen become a threat. If those facilities are moth-balled, they can’t be brought back on line quickly.11)

THE FALLACY OF VACCINATION

100 years of small-pox vaccination reviewed in 1899

"Bad begins and worse remains behind.''-HAMLET.

The fourteenth day of May, 1896, was observed at several places in Europe as the centenary of the introduction of vaccination among the resources of the healing art. The event thus commemorated ,was the performing of the first operation by Edward Jenner upon a young lad named James Phipps with the result of successfully producing the characteristic vesicle of the vaccine disease.

The celebration, however, attracted but little attention; partly because those who credit the utility of the peculiar operation are indifferent to its early history, and partly because the modern notions respecting it are very widely different from those promulgated by Jenner himself. Besides, there is among profounder thinkers and observers a growing conviction that vaccination, so far from being a benefit to mankind, is itself utterly useless as a preventive, irrational and unscientific in theory, and actually the means of disseminating disease afresh where it is performed. Hence, while governments are stepping outside of their legitimate province to enforce the operation, the people who act from better information upon the subject, are steadily becoming adverse.

Several years ago compulsory vaccination was submitted to the voting population of Switzerland by the referendum, and every canton but one gave a majority against it. In other countries the governments act arbitrarily, and have conferred despotic powers upon privileged professional men, and so the practice is enforced without mercy. Its advocates have taken little pains to convince those who distrust its utility, but instead have resorted to the employment of other and often reprehensible means. Children are excluded from the public schools unless they have been vaccinated, and the attempt is made to worry and coerce the parents and guardians into compliance with the arbitrary condition by prosecutions for truancy. 12)
