Serial Passage

Serial passage refers to the process of growing bacteria, viruses, or other microorganisms in one environment, traditionally a cell culture, then transferring it to another environment, often repeatedly, in order to select for the survivors. This can be done for the purpose of introducing a microorganism to an animal host as a way to engineer zoonosis.
