Rosana Salvaterra

Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, MD, MSc, CCFP, FRCPC is a Canadian public health official based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Education

Salvaterra holds a master’s degree in Health Research Methodology and a specialty in Public Health and Preventive Medicine. She attended McMaster University and the University of Toronto.1)

Career

Salvaterra is an adjunct professor at Queen's University and Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health at Alberta Health Services.2) She is affiliated with the Public Health Training for Equitable Systems Change (PHESC) program at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health.3) She is a faculty member at the University of Alberta.4)

She has written for the Toronto Star.

COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Salvaterra acted as a representative for the Office of the Medical Officer of Health on the AHS COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Group under Alberta Health Services.

After retiring as Medical Officer of Health for Peterborough Public Health, Salvaterra was hired as Deputy CMOH at AHS in September 2021. She began the new position on October 4.5)
