Robert Nelsen

Robert Nelsen is an American venture capitalist.

History

Education

Nelsen earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Puget Sound with majors in Economics and Biology. He completed his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1987.1)

Career

Nelsen is a co-founder and managing director at ARCH Venture Partners. He joined ARCH at its founding and played a significant role in the early sourcing, financing and development of more than 100 companies, including twenty-seven which have reached valuations exceeding $1 billion.

He is a director for a number of companies, including Vir Biotechnology, GRAIL, Sana Biotechnology, Beam Therapeutics, Unity Biotechnology, and Denali Therapeutics, and serves as Chairman of Hua Medicine, among others.

He previously served as a Trustee of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute, the Institute for Systems Biology, and was a director of the National Venture Capital Association.2)
