Research
Burns has conducted research on inflammation and the physical and mental health status of people with type 2 diabetes, funded by Diabetes Canada.6) Diabetes Canada is funded by a variety of major pharmaceutical companies.7)
She has collaborated on grants that were approved by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Burns was also the recipient of a $50,000 Healthy Minds Canada/Pfizer Canada Research Award in 2016.8)
Burns co-authored a study on nudging and behaviour change in regard to “open defecation” on behalf of Catalyst Behavioural Sciences, sponsored by the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program (WSP).9) The WSP is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.10)
