Patrick Feng

Patrick Feng, PhD is a Canadian researcher and health policy specialist based in Toronto, Ontario.

Education

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Feng holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. (Science and Technology Studies) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His dissertation, entitled Designing a 'Global' Privacy Standard: Politics and Expertise in Technical Standards-Setting, investigated how the work of international standards organizations shapes both technology development and policy-making.

Peking University

In 2001, Feng was a visiting scholar at the Center for Social Studies of Science at Peking University in Beijing, China.2)

Simon Fraser University

Feng was a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow in the Assessment of Technology in Context Design Lab (ATIC) from 2003-2004 under the School of Communication at Simon Fraser University (SFU). During his fellowship, he was part of a team that researched the implementation of health information technologies across Canada. He also taught courses on new media and society.3)

Feng works in the field of science and technology policy, examining social, legal, and ethical issues arising from the use of new technologies.

Feng worked as a research associate at the World Wide Web Consortium, where he describes “focusing on privacy and other social issues stemming from the World Wide Web.”

Feng was an Assistant Professor in the Science Technology and Society program at the University of Calgary.4)

Feng is a co-investigator on the S.M.A.S.H COVID project, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Heath Research (CIHR) and hosted at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health's Institute for Mental Health Policy Research.8)
