Order of Assassins

The Order of Assassins were a radical Nizari sect of Shia Islam that may have begun as earth at the 8th century, but is known to have existed from 1090 to 1275. Some accounts have the order surviving into at least the 14th century.

Leadership

The leader of the Order of Assassins was referred to by titles that mean the Old Man in the Mountain or the Mountain Lord.

Territory

The primary headquarters of the Order of Assassins was Alamut, at the Southwest short of the Caspian Sea in the Alborz Mountains of modern day Iran. From there, the Nazari sect branched out to other castles in Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, and elsewhere.
