Michael Caster

Michael Caster is an American human rights advocate. He is the co-founder of the Chinese Urgent Action Working Group and its successor, Safeguard Defenders.

Education

Career

In late 2008 or early 2009, Caster co-founded the Chinese Urgent Action Working Group with Peter Dahlin.2) 3) 4) From September 2011 to April 2012, Caster worked for Pearson as a research assistant and writer.

From January-April 2015, Caster worked as researcher for Minority Rights Group International, then as a fellow and legal intern at the International Commission of Jurists in the summer.

He then contributed to research for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, while also working pro bono for the Public International Law & Policy Group in their collaboration with the Harvard Law and International Development Society (LIDS).

Caster was recognized for his work in human rights advocacy by the Human Rights Campus in January 2013, and received Certificate in the Advanced Study of Nonviolent Conflict from the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict in June 2013.
