Melissa Potestio

Melissa Potestio, PhD, MSc, BSc is a Canadian community health scientist based in Calgary, Alberta.

Education

Potestio completed her Bachelor of Science at Simon Fraser University in 2002. She attended Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Graduate Summer Institute of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Career

Potestio is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine in the Department of Community Health Sciences.1) She worked as Interim Scientific Director for Alberta Health Services' Population, Public and Indigenous Health Strategic Clinical Network.

She is a co-investigator for the Four Winds Initiative, co-funded by Alberta Health Services and Alberta Innovates.2)

COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Postetio served on the AHS COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Group under Alberta Health Services as a population, public and indigenous health representative.
