Mario Draghi

Mario Draghi OMRI is an Italian politician, economist, banker, former professor and civil servant who has been serving as the prime minister of Italy since 2021. Prior to his appointment as prime minister, he served as President of the European Central Bank between 2011 and 2019.

History

Draghi was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, an Executive Director of the World Bank, Chairman of the Financial Stability Board and Governor of the Bank of Italy before being made President of the European Central Bank.1)

In February 2021 he was made Prime Minister of Italy, where he promoted mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for healthcare workers in the country.2)

In July 2022, Draghi tendered his resignation as Prime Minister, which the President of Italy declined.3)
