John Podesta

John David Podesta, Jr. is an American political consultant who has served various roles in multiple White House administrations.

History

Career

Podesta served in the Bill Clinton Administration as White House Staff Secretary from 1993 to 1995 and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations from 1997 to 1998. He also served as White House Chief of Staff to President Clinton from 1998 to 2001 and Counselor to President Barack Obama from 2014 to 2015.

Lobbying

Podesta co-founded a major lobbying firm called the Podesta Group with his brother Tony Podesta. In 2003, John founded the Center for American Progress (CAP).1) He went on leave from CAP in 2008 to participate in Obama's transition team.2)
