International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering
The International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) is a supra-national non-governmental organization. It is officially recognized by the United Nations and the World Health Organization, which allows it to be “uniquely positioned to influence the delivery of health care to the world through Biomedical and Clinical Engineering.”1)

Journal
IFMBE publishes a peer-reviewed journal titled Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing (MBEC).2) The journal's editorial board includes representatives from the American University of Sharjah, Federal University of Uberlandia, Johns Hopkins University, Macquarie University, National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology, National University of Singapore, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University, Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya, University of Alberta, University of Manitoba, University of Patras, Yarmouk University, and many others.3)

The IFMBE joins the International Organization for Medical Physicists (IOMP) in a union called the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM). These organizations coordinate the World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering every three years.5)
