Dr. William A. Ciccotelli, MD, FRCPC is a Canadian infectious diseases specialist based in Kitchener, Ontario. He has been practicing as an infectious diseases consultant and medical microbiologist since 2008.
Ciccotelli graduated from McMaster University in 2002.
Ciccotelli is the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control, Infectious Diseases & Medical Microbiology and Grand River and St. Mary’s General Hospitals.
Ciccotelli is a part-time assistant professor in the Department of Pathology & Molecular Medicine at McMaster University.1)
Ciccotelli has served on a number of working groups and professional committees related to best practice development in infection control, antimicrobial stewardship and resource utilization including with Choosing Wisely Canada.
Ciccotelli is a member of the Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee on Infection Prevention and Control (PIDAC-IPC) under Public Health Ontario, where he was involved in the development of best practice guidance for COVID-19 infection prevention and control.2) 3)
Ciccotelli is a member of the Drugs & Biologics Clinical Practice Guidelines Working Group of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table.4)
Ciccotelli has conducted research on allocation of vaccines in the context of pandemic influenza, funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).5)
