Paul Hendry

Dr. Paul Hendry is a Canadian cardiac surgeon based in Ottawa, Ontario. He is notable in the COVID-19 pandemic due to his position with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Education

Dr. Hendry earned his MD from the University of Ottawa in 1981, where he completed his Residency Training in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. During that time, he earned an MSc in Physiology.

Certifications

He is certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in General Surgery. In 1989, he received further certification in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery.

Affiliations

Duke University

Following his residency, he undertook a research fellowship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, for two years.

University of Ottawa

Dr. Hendry is a Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Ottawa.1) He is also a Cardiac Surgeon and Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Devices Program at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
