Mira Bernstein

Mira Bernstein is an American mathematician based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.1)

History

Education

Bernstein attended Yale University, the University of Cambridge and Harvard University, graduating from the latter in 1999.2)

Career

Bernstein worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California Berkeley from September 1999 to June 2001.3) She then moved to Massachusetts, starting her work at the Mathematics Foundation of America in April 2002. In her role as Executive Director, she managed the non-profit's $600,000 annual budget and administered the Canada/USA Mathcamp.

She taught as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Wellesley College from September 2002 until June 2008.4)

Oregon Health Insurance Experiment

In September 2008, Bernstein started work as investigator and project manager for the Oregon Health Insurance Experiment at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).5) The project was funded by the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in the Department of Health and Human Services, the California HealthCare Foundation, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the National Institute on Aging (P30AG012810, RC2AGO36631 and R01AG0345151), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Sloan Foundation, the Smith Richardson Foundation, and the U.S. Social Security Administration (through grant 5 RRC 08098400-03-00 to the National Bureau of Economic Research as part of the SSA Retirement Research Consortium).6)
