Depopulation is the action of causing a nation or other other geographic territory to have fewer living people in it.

Some public health agencies actively pursue depopulation of animals. For instance, the United States Department of Agriculture engages in the depopulation of poultry facilities in the United States on the grounds of preventing disease spread.1)
