Teresa Ressel

Teresa Mullett Ressel is an American businesswoman. Her career covers finance, defence, electronics, and healthcare complementing her government service.

Background

Ressel was born in 1962.1)

Education

Ressel completed cyber security training at Carnegie Mellon University; she holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and two engineering degrees (BS and MS) from the University of Delaware.

Career

General Dynamics (1987-1990)

Starting in 1987, Ressel completed “nuclear power school” as a civilian and then worked on the construction and testing of nuclear submarines for the United States Navy under General Dynamics.

Hewlett-Packard (1990-1994)

From 1990 to 1994, Ressel was employed with Hewlett Packard as a Corporate Program Manager, first within the Corporate Manufacturing Group, Palo Alto, California, and subsequently Hewlett Packard Asia Pacific Ltd.2) 3)

Kaiser Permanente (1994-2000)

Ressel worked at Kaiser Permanente in Vice President and Senior Vice President roles from 1994-2000.4)

United States Treasury (2001-2004)

From 2001 to 2004, Ressel served at the United States Department of the Treasury.

Confirmed by the United States Senate as Assistant Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer, her duties included financial management, strategy around revenue collection for the Internal Revenue Service and United States Customs and Border Protection, leading the government’s audit across the Department, reporting and cash flow duties, and an array of regulatory oversight matters for financial markets and financial institutions.

She participated in the creation of the United States Department of Homeland Security.

UBS Investment Bank (2004-2012)

Ressel worked in international banking and finance as CEO of UBS Securities (US division of UBS Investment Bank).5)

Prior to her CEO tenure, she led UBS’s Americas region as Chief Operating Officer across the United States of America, Canada, and Latin America. These leadership roles included market and operational risk, compliance and technology oversight.

The Olayan Group (2012-2016)

From 2012 until early 2016, Ressel served on the management team of Olayan Americas based in New York.6)

ON Semiconductor (2012-2020)

Ressel joined the board of ON Semiconductor in 2012.7)

Atlantic Power (2014-2017)

Invesco Funds (2017-present)

Ressel became a trustee for Invesco Funds in 2017, and is scheduled to serve her term until 2023.11)

Elucida Oncology (2017-present)

Since 2017, Ressel has served as a director of Elucida Oncology, a nanotechnology and medical particles biotechnology company focused on the development of therapeutics for cancer treatment.12)

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (2018-present)

Ressel is a member of the board of directors for Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.13)

Other Affiliations

The Clearing House

Ressel formerly served as a member of the board of the Clearing House, the leading private-sector payment infrastructure for clearing and settling U.S. Dollar payments.15)

Council on Foreign Relations

Ressel is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.16)

Herndon Directors Institute

Ressel is an Independent Corporate Governance Consultant for the Herndon Directors Institute.17)

Institute for International Banking

Ressell is a trustee at the Institute for International Banking.18)

Middle East Investment Initiative

Ressel is on the board of directors for the Middle East Investment Initiative.19)

University of Connecticut Medical Center

Ressel is on the board of directors for the University of Connecticut Medical Center (UConn Health).20)
