Robert Dawson

Robert “Bob” W. Dawson is a Canadian businessman based in Victoria, British Columbia.

Education

Dawson attended the University of British Columbia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1987 and a Master of Arts in 1989.1) He specialized in International Relations and Political Science.

Career and Affiliations

Government of Alberta

Dawson was hired as a junior researcher with the Government of Alberta. He describes working his way through various political positions, before leaving to work in government relations for a public health agency.

“The experience I gained in government affairs, as well as my education in political science, opened doors in the private sector.”2)

Pfizer

Dawson is now the Director of Access and Government Relations at Pfizer Canada.3)

Lobbying

From April 2010 until October 2019, Dawson acted as an in-house lobbyist for Pfizer, engaging with various officials in the Government of British Columbia.

In 2010, he lobbied then-premier Gordon Campbell, future premier John Horgan, future health minister Adrian Dix, and future deputy premier, minister of public safety and solicitor general Mike Farnworth.4)

In 2012, he lobbied then-premier Christy Clark, John Horgan, Adrian Dix, and Mike Farnworth. The disclosed purpose was to “provide health policy and pharmaceutical information and communications on behalf of Pfizer Canada,” and “learn and understand the budgetary, policy and strategic directions of the Government.”5)
