BioProtection Systems Corporation (BPSC) was an American biotechnology company based in Ames, Iowa.1)

History

Founding

BPSC was founded in 2005 as a subsidiary of NewLink Genetics.2)

Ebola

On August 5, 2014, BPSC announced that it had received an initial $1 million contract from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to bring the rVSV-ZEBOV-G vaccine candidate against Ebola to clinical trials. The candidate was licensed from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).3) Dr. Robert Malone was tapped by the DTRA to lead the program.4) 5)
