Justin Presseau

Justin Presseau is a Canadian epidemiologist and psychologist based in Ottawa, Ontario. He is notable in the COVID-19 pandemic due to his role on the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table.

Education

Presseau studied at the University of Ottawa, graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2005.1)

He then attended the University of Aberdeen, completing his Masters of Research in 2007. He studied for his PhD in Psychology from 2007 - 2011.2)

Affiliations

On July 1, 2019, Presseau shared a photo of him and his family celebrating Canada Day with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.3)

British Psychology Society

Presseau is on the International Advisory Board of the British Journal of Health Psychology.4) 5)

CAN-Change Network

Presseau is a member of the CAN-Change Network (Canadian Network for Health Behavior Change and Promotion).6)

Canadian Psychological Association

Presseau is chair of the Canadian Psychological Association’s Health Psychology and Behavioural Medicine section.7)

Implementation Science Journal

Presseau is an Associate Editor for the journal Implementation Science.8)

Presseau was a Lecturer in Health Psychology at Newcastle University from 2012 - 2015.9) 10)

Presseau is a member of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table and Chair of the Behavioural Science Working Group.11)

Ottawa Hospital

Presseau is a Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute where he leads the Psychology and Health Research Group and is core faculty in the Centre for Implementation Research. He is the Scientific Lead for Knowledge Translation at the Ottawa Methods Centre SPOR Support Unit.13) 14)

Presseau received funding from the Ottawa Hospital Foundation via the COVID-19 Emergency Research Seed Fund as a Primary Investigator on a study investigating face touching behaviour.15)

University of Ottawa

Presseau is an Associate Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health and the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa.16)

Research

Presseau's research program operates at the intersection between health psychology and implementation science. His research draws on behavioural science to understand factors that promote and undermine behaviour change in healthcare, and in patients and the general public. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles.17)

Funding

Presseau has received funding from a variety of institutions for his research, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), BioCanRx, Canadian Blood Services, AMS Healthcare, Ontario SPOR Support Unit, Stem Cell Network, and The Ottawa Hospital Academic Medical Organization (TOMAHO).18)

Awards

Presseau is the recipient of early career awards from the UK Society for Behavioural Medicine, the International Society of Behavioral Medicine, and the European Health Psychology Society, and a mid-career award from the Canadian Psychological Association.19)
