Joan Fisk is a Canadian businessperson based in Kitchener, Ontario.

Education

Fisk received a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Home Economics and studied Clothing and Faculty of Family and Consumer Studies at the University of Guelph.

Career and Affiliations

Tiger Brand Knitting

Fisk ran the Tiger Brand Knitting Company as President from 1978 to 2005. The company filed for bankruptcy multiple times and was sold to a numbered company. The new owners shut down the facility and sourced their products from China.1)

Gore Mutual Insurance

From 2000-2017, Fisk was a Director at Gore Mutual Insurance.

Wilfred Laurier University

Canada’s Technology Triangle

Fisk served as Director and an ambassador for Canada’s Technology Triangle from 2007-2014. The group existed to promote business investment in the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo and the townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich. It was part of the Ontario Biotechnology Cluster Innovation Program, which also included the City of Guelph, Guelph Partnership for Innovation, the University of Guelph, University of Waterloo, and the Waterloo Region Technology Association.4)

International Women’s Forum

Fisk was the inaugural Membership Chair for the Waterloo chapter of the International Women’s Forum upon its launch in 2008.5) IWF is sponsored by:6) 7) 8) 9) 10)

Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce

Fisk served as the President and CEO of the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce from 2008-2010.15)

Cambridge Hospital Foundation

Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network

Fisk served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network from 2011-2017.21)

University of Guelph

Fisk has served as Chair of the Advisory Board for the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph.22)

College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

Fisk is a public member on the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario for Cambridge. She serves on the Executive Council and in Inquiries, Complaints and Reports.23)
