Risk-benefit analysis of COVID-19 vaccines is a controversial topic due to its extremely complex nature.

Many effects of the COVID-19 vaccines are still unknown and hotly debated, including some systemic risks such as mass fertility decline, risks of enhanced disease, and training the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 into more harmful forms (immunity escape). The precautionary principle is usually cited as a reason not to engage in large experiments until smaller experiments reveal more about full picture of risk-benefit.

The more complex the topic, the greater the burden of educating people about the potential risks associated with a decision. Many argue that informed consent is not taking place. If one of the most informed people on the planet felt underinformed in retrospect, what chance is there for the average person to understand the potential consequences of vaccination

Vaccine efficacy is an unspecific term needing qualification. Every vaccine has numerous forms of efficacy including,

• efficacy in preventing mortality

For all of these measured endpoints, there seems to be little if any COVID-19 vaccine efficacy. COVID-19 cases in vaccinated people are known as breakthrough cases.
