CBC News

CBC News is the English-language news station for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (French: Société Radio-Canada). CBC/Radio-Canada is a Canadian federal Crown corporation that serves as the national public broadcaster for both radio and television. The English- and French-language service units of the corporation are commonly known as CBC and Radio-Canada respectively, and both short-form names are also commonly used in the applicable language to refer to the corporation as a whole.^{1) 2)}

• In November 2021, featured Zainab Abdurrahman and Supriya Sharma, Heath Canada's chief medical adviser, to discuss COVID-19 injections for children.⁷⁾

CBC/Radio-Canada has received substantial financial assistance from the Government of Canada under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.⁸⁾ In May 2019, Trudeau joked that the reason the media let him and his party off easy is “because we paid them $600,000,000.00,” which he indeed did pay.^{9) 10)}

Former employee Tara Henley reportedly fielded increasing numbers of complaints about CBC before she quit and moved to writing on Substack, saying “to work at the CBC in the current climate is to embrace cognitive dissonance and to abandon journalistic integrity.”¹¹⁾

In a letter to members of the People's Party of Canada, leader Maxime Bernier emphasized Henley's statement that the CBC is now “an explicitly racist organization” - “To work at the CBC now is to accept the idea that race is the most significant thing about a person, and that some races are more relevant to the public conversation than others. It is, in my newsroom, to fill out racial profile forms for every guest you book; to actively book more people of some races and less of others.”¹²⁾
