Anthony Fauci

Dr. Anthony Stephen Fauci, MD was born in Brooklyn's Dyker Heights neighborhood on December 24, 1940. Fauci’s father Steve ran a pharmacy, and the family lived in the apartment above. His mother Eugenia and sister Denise worked in the store, and young Tony would make drug deliveries on his bicycle. He attended Regis High School, a Jesuit School on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

After completing his residency at Cornell Medical Center, Dr. Fauci joined the NIH in 1966, as part of an intramural research program known as the “Yellow Berets.”1) In 1970, he left for a year and a half to serve as Chief Resident at the New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center. In 1971, he returned to NIH as Senior Investigator in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation.

In 1977, he became deputy clinical director of the NIAID. He became NIAID's Director in 1984, just as the AIDS crisis was spiraling out of control. He is the highest paid U.S. federal employee.2) In 2020, Fauci earned a salary of $434,312.3)

In 1985 he married Christine Grady, MSN, PhD currently NIH Chief, Bioethics & Head, Section on Human Subjects Research 4)

With 55+ years of service in the federal government, his pension will exceed 350,000 per year.5) He also serves as President Biden's Chief Medical Advisor.6)

Early Life

His father, Stephan Fauci, graduated from the College of Pharmacy, Columbia University. His mother, Euginia, went to Brooklyn College and Hunter College. Fauci’s father was a pharmacist in Brooklyn New York. Fauci’s mother and sister ran the front of store while Anthony delivered prescriptions on his bike. The family lived upstairs in the second-floor apartment. “Each block in my neighborhood had the smells of rich, thick Sunday sauce and the music of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin,” he said in the interview with the US World Herald, “My very best memories as a child are of the house being full with aunts, cousins, and uncles with a table of good food.”

Fauci’s mentor was a man named Sheldon Wolf, who gave him his first job at the NIH. Wolf encouraged Fauci to explore the things he was most curious about. The WSJ article, The Mentor Who Made Dr. Fauci7) describes how “Fauci chose a rare inflammatory disease with a 100% fatality rate and went searching for inspiration. He found it two floors away. NIH researchers upstairs were testing immunosuppressive drugs on cancers, and Fauci tried experimenting with low doses on his patients. It was highly unorthodox. It was also highly effective. This pioneering use of anti-cancer drugs for a non-cancerous disease was essentially its cure.

“I’ve always wanted to be involved with diseases that were very, very serious,” Fauci once said. “I would rather be involved with patients who have fatal diseases than those with diseases that are just an annoyance. That just happened to be my bent. I wanted to be where the action was.”8)

Major Involvement in Public Health Events

HIV/Aids

The Press of Freedom: A Column Open to Our Readers

The Village Voice by Larry Kramer - May 31, 1988 (Larry Kramer AIDS activist, poet laureate of plagues, playwright 'The Normal Heart' )

I have been screaming at the National Institutes of Health since I first visited your Animal House of Horrors in 1984. I called you monsters then and I called you idiots in my play, The Normal Heart, and now I call you murderers.

You are responsible for supervising all government-funded AIDS treatment research programs. In the name of right, you make decisions that cost the lives of others. I call that murder.

At hearings on April 29 before Representative Ted Weiss and his House Subcommittee on Human Resources, after almost eight years of the worst epidemic in modern history, perhaps to be the worst in all history, you were pummeled into admitting publicly what some of us have been claiming since you took over three years ago.

You admitted that you are an incompetent idiot.

Over the past four years, $374 million has been allocated for AIDS treatment research. You were in charge of spending much of that money.

It doesn’t take a genius to request, as you did, 126 new staff persons, receive only 11, and then keep your mouth shut about it.

It takes an incompetent idiot.

To quote Representative Henry Waxman at the above hearings: “Dr. Fauci, your own drug selection committee has named 24 drugs as high priority for development and trials. As best as I can tell, 11 of these 24 are not in trials yet. Six of these drugs have been waiting for six months to more than a year. Why the delays? I understand the need to do what you call setting priorities but it appears even with your own scientists’ choices the trials are not going on.”10)

AIDS Profiteering

The crucifixion of Dr. Peter Duesberg. The original cancellation of a heretic and why it matters today. Substack - Unbekoming - January 31, 2021

“Dr. Fauci launched his career by allowing Burroughs Wellcome now GlaxoSmith-Kline to charge $10,000 annually for azidothymidine (AZT), an antiretroviral medication developed exclusively by NIH and tested and approved by Dr. Fauci himself. Dr. Fauci knew that the product cost Burroughs Wellcome a mere $5/dose to manufacture. Higher profit for industry “partners” often means more extravagant royalty payments for his NIAID and NIH cronies.” quoted from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. - The Real Anthony Fauci“ 11)12)

Fauci AIDS Epidemic & COVID Vaccine Profits

by Kim Iverson Childrens Health Defense

“During the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, Dr. Anthony Fauci discouraged and prevented inexpensive treatments for AIDS and focused exclusively on AZT. He’s doing the same thing today with COVID, focusing on highly profitable vaccines and ignoring potentially safe and effective treatments 13)

Gain-of-Function Research

In 2014, in the wake of serious safety lapses at U.S. labs, including 75 CDC researchers being exposed to anthrax, and the chance discovery of 16 misplaced small pox vials at another facility, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and Department of Health and Human Services declared a moratorium on funding for gain-of-function research for influenza, SARS and MERS. Gain-of-function research involves the manipulation of viruses and other pathogens in order to enhance their capabilities. The 2014 moratorium followed an earlier year-long moratorium on H5N1 research that was instituted in 2012 after researchers had enabled airborne transmission of avian influenza virus H5N1 between ferrets. In addition to the dangers posed by H5N1 research, and the recent safety lapses at U.S. labs, the moratorium was prompted by the potential dangers associated with gain-of-function research on particularly deadly viruses like SARS and MERS.14)15)

On December 19, 2017, the NIH lifted the funding pause on gain-of-function research related to influenza, SARS and MERS.16) As the pause was lifted, the Department of Health and Human Services issued a new set of guidelines for funding gain-of-function research, entitled “Framework for Guiding Funding Decisions about Proposed Research Involving Enhanced Potential Pandemic Pathogens.”17) Notably, this new framework carved out a broad exception for work related to vaccines, even where such work involved Pandemic Potential Pathogens (or “PPPs”):

“To the extent that transmissibility and/or virulence of PPPs are modified in the following categories of studies, the resulting pathogens are not considered to be enhanced PPPs for the purposes of this Framework:
1. Surveillance activities, including sampling and sequencing; and
2. Activities associated with developing and producing vaccines, such as generation of high growth strains.”18)19)

The Real Anthony Fauci - Book Published

The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health (Children’s Health Defense) by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Here is one passage where RFK Jr. talks about how the institutions under Fauci’s leadership have chosen to focus on drug development instead of the actual science of public health.

…That relationship has tilted the agency [HHS] away from a public health perspective to an industry-friendly perspective. Dr. Fauci is the human face of this corrupt dynamic.
Under Dr. Fauci’s leadership, the commercial features of this partnership have eclipsed his agency’s mission to advance science. At NIAID, the Pharma tail now wags the public health dog. Dr. Fauci has done almost nothing to advance NIAID’s core obligation of researching the causes of the devastating explosions in epidemics of chronic allergic and autoimmune diseases that, under his tenure, have mushroomed to afflict 54% of children, up from 12.8 percent when he took charge of NIAID in 1984. While ignoring the explosion of allergic conditions, Dr. Fauci has instead reshaped NIAID into the leading incubator for new pharmaceutical products, many of which, ironically, profit from the cascading chronic disease pandemic.
Over the last fifty years at NIH, Dr. Fauci has played a leading role in Big Pharma’s engineered demolition of American health and democracy, working hand in glove with pharmaceutical companies to overcome federal regulatory obstacles and transform the NIH and NIAID into a single-minded vehicle for development, promotion, and marketing of patented pharmaceutical products, including vaccines and vaccine-like products.
Most of us would like ‘America’s Doctor’ to properly diagnose our illnesses using the best science, and then instruct us on how to get healthy. What if, instead of spending their entire budgets developing profitable pharmaceutical products, Dr. Fauci and the heads of other NIH institutes deployed researchers to explore the links between glyphosate in food and the explosion of gluten allergies, the link between pesticide residues and the epidemic of neurological diseases and cancers, the causal connections between aluminum and Alzheimer's disease, between mercury from coal plants and escalating autism rates, and the association of airborne particulates with the asthma epidemic? What if NIH financed research to explore the association between childhood vaccines and the explosion of juvenile diabetes, asthma, and rheumatoid arthritis, and the links between aluminum vaccine adjuvants and the epidemics of food allergies and allergic rhinitis? ….

Crazy Shit Anthony Fauci Did or Said

Oh, this is going to get fun. It'll make you cry, but it'll make you laugh, too.

February 2020: “We feel very confident that there won't be an outbreak”

March 8 2020: “there’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”

March 2020: “based on modeling of the current pace of the coronavirus' spread in the U.S., between 100,000 and 200,000 people may die from COVID-19.

Admitting on TV that mandates are just a coercive mechanism to get more people to take the shot.23)

Anthony Fauci speaking back in December, 2009;

Italic Text

November 12, 2021: ” … I mean, if you got attacked by the crazy press, far-right press the way I have, you would feel as sensitive as I do… when you have unvaccinated grandchildren, the best way to protect unvaccinated grandchildren is to surround them with vaccinated people …Who are very unlikely to spread it to them” 24)

November 28,2021: “I represent science.”25)

July 2020: “We know from countries throughout the world that you can physically separate people to the point of not allowing the virus to transmit, and the only way to do that is by Draconian means of essentially shutting down a country. We know that we can do that if we shut down. The Europeans have done it. People in Asia have done it.”

July 2020: “I’ve worked with Governor Gavin Newsom throughout these last few months, and he really has his handle on it and understands what he needs to do, and I believe is doing a really very good job, as are several of your mayors, actually.”

July 2020: ” You get 20% to 40% of the population that can be asymptomatic infection.“26)

January 2021: “If you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective.”

December 2021: “And that's the reason why people should, if they invite people over their home, essentially ask and maybe require that people show evidence that they are vaccinated, or give their honest and good faith word that they have been vaccinated.”

December 2021: “We're dealing with a serious enough situation now that if there's an unvaccinated person, I would say, 'I'm very sorry, but not this time. Maybe another time when this is all over.”

December 16, 2021, to the US Chamber of commerce: ““The only way we can think of countering misinformation and disinformation is by literally flooding the system with correct information,” Dr. Fauci emphasized. “Talk about what the real true information is, and put aside and debunk those theories about safety and inefficacy of vaccines, which are completely untrue.”

December 31, 2021: “We have enough vaccines, the best vaccines available … The mRNA vaccines are desired by everyone else in the world.”27)

December 31, 2021: “We don’t need another vaccine; we have plenty of vaccines, they have not applied to get approved. When you try to get approved, the FDA looks at the data, and if the data are in order and give you a good scientific rationale to approve it, the FDA will approve it. There are no interventions that are not being approved for reasons other than they’ve either not been submitted for approval or the data are not strong enough to warrant approval.”28)

Dec 2021 - Fauci says Covid boosters work against omicron, no need for variant-specific third shot

White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said the primary two-dose vaccination series from Pfizer and BioNTech is significantly compromised by omicron. However, two shots still offer considerable protection against severe disease, he said. A booster dose increases protection against symptomatic disease to 75%, Fauci said.29)

April, 2022 - Fauci: “In my wildest dreams I could not imagine becoming a polarizing figure.”30)

March 13, 2023: On CNN in an interview by Jim Acosta Fauci continued to promote a natural occurrence of the SARS-COV-2 virus (jumping from an animal to man) while saying ” … I will keep a completely open mind” and “ … all of the intelligence agencies agree unanimously that this was not engineered …” he also posits “ … a lab leak could be someone was out in the wild, maybe looking for different types of viruses in bats, got infected, went into a lab and was being studied in the lab and then came out of the lab but if that's the definition of a lab leak, Jum, then that still a natural occurrence …” 31) NB: this ought to convince a discerning listerner that Dr. Fauci is a politician, not a scientist.

Strange Coincidences

About 100 people traveling to a global AIDS conference in Australia were on board the Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight that crashed and killed 298 people in eastern Ukraine, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

The researchers, health workers and activists were on their way to the International AIDS Conference in Melbourne. Among the victims planning to attend was Dutch national Joep Lange, a top AIDS researcher and former International AIDS Society president. Briton Glenn Thomas, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization and a former BBC journalist, was also on flight MH17.

While the medical field mourns the lives of those killed, experts like Associate Professor Brian Owler, federal president of the Australian Medical Association, also fear that breakthroughs in HIV/AIDS research will now be stalled.

“The amount of knowledge that these people who died on the plane were carrying with them and the experiences they had developed will have a devastating impact on HIV research,” Owler told TIME.

“The amount of time it takes to get to a stage where you can come up with those ideas cannot be replaced in a short amount of time. So it does set back work for a cure and strategic prevention of HIV/AIDS very significantly,” he said. 32)

Research with Former Soviet Countries

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the US government's top infectious-disease expert, has sent a letter to the Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center (Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital) in which he notes he highly appreciates Georgia’s efforts and experience in the fight against the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

The information was released by Tengiz Tsertsvadze, General Director of the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital. “The Center has many years of fruitful cooperation with NIAID / NIH The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. This cooperation has greatly contributed to the creation and development of a modern type of HIV/AIDS service in Georgia and, in general, to successful US-Georgia cooperation in the biomedical field.

“In October 2017, on the initiative of Dr. Fauci, a special reception and scientific session was held for Tsertsvadze and his team members in Bethesda. The purpose of the meeting was to summarize the results of 20 years of successful scientific cooperation between NIAID / NIH and Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center and to set future prospects.

“The above event is unprecedented for Eastern European countries and is a clear recognition of the great achievements and merits of the Center in the field of HIV / AIDS and Viral Hepatitis.

“During the meeting, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, Nikoloz Chkhartishvili and Akaki Abutidze spoke about the results of 20 years of US-Georgia cooperation and the main achievements of joint research with NIAID. The American side was also informed about the main results of the state hepatitis C elimination program in Georgia.

“Professor Anthony Fauci introduced his colleagues to the main directions and achievements of NIAID / NIH's scientific and clinical activities. He praised the results of the cooperation between the institutions and the achievements of the Center in the field of HIV / AIDS and Viral Hepatitis. 33)

Biological Weapons Programs

Bioweapons Expert claims US Government funded Bio-labs in Ukraine to make Bio-Weapons for use against Russia By Mercola reprint The Exposé on April 11, 2022

Francis Boyle, Ph.D., a Harvard educated lawyer and bioweapons expert with a Ph.D. in political science, was interviewed recently about the Bio-Labs in Ukraine, which Russia claims are engaged in U.S.-funded bioweapons research.

For decades, Boyle has advocated against the development and use of bioweapons. In fact, he was the one who called for biowarfare legislation at the Biological Weapons Convention of 1972. He then went on to draft the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act, which was passed unanimously by both houses of Congress and signed into law by then-president George Bush Sr. in May 1989.

While the U.S. has vehemently denied Russia’s accusations, Boyle says that based on what he’s discovered so far, the labs in Ukraine are all conducting biological warfare research — including ethnic-specific biological weapons — at the behest of the U.S. Pentagon, just as Russian authorities are claiming.

“The Pentagon does not do missionary work,” he says. “They kill people, and that’s why they are there.” He also points out that everyone involved is subject to life in prison under the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, which explains the mad scramble to project these labs as something other than what they are.

President Reagan put Dr. Anthony Fauci in charge of the U.S. biological weapons program, and he’s been at it ever since. “About 95% of this biowarfare death science has been funded by Fauci, the NIAID and the NIH, since about 1984,” Boyle says.

In previous interviews, Boyle has stated he believes SARS-CoV-2 is an engineered bioweapon, and here, he again reviews some of the reasons why. He points out that Shi Zheng-li, the famous bat coronavirus researcher at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, was trained at the biolab in Galveston, Texas, which is “part of U.S. biological warfare industry.”34)

Ethics Loopholes

How Fauci and Grady Degraded the Standards of Ethical Requirements for Clinical Research in the US Compared to the Rest of the World

In reading Nuremberg, The Belmont Report, and now the Helsinki Declaration, I can say that up to 2020, US had far lower ethical standards for human subjects research than WMA. Now? None. Substack - James Lyons-Weiler - Jul 27, 2022

Nuremberg focused primarily on the rights of patients’ protection from harm by doctors performing “human experiments”. Helsinki changed the langued to “clinical research”, but the intention was the same. The Belmont Report was an early draft of a guidance-type document in the US meant to inform professionals of the general expectations of normative standards; it is now only considered a “historic” document.

Nuremberg, Helsinki and Belmont carry no legally enforceable language in the US. Instead, Nuremberg and Helsinki were meant to provide international standards by which individual countries could gauge their governance and regulation of clinical, human subjects research. It takes a while, but comparing the Helsinki Code to the US policies in play prior to 2020 (before COVID) shows that US researchers (meaning US-based pharmaceutical companies) wanted to weaken the concept of beneficence - the principle that all involved in a trial should benefit from being part of a clinical trial.

Where the US had departed (prior to 2020) from the rest of the countries that backed Helsinki (WMA) and participated in its updates included, according to Kimmelman et al. (2009) included:

  • Disclosure of conflict of interest;
  • Public disclosure of study design;
  • Benefit for populations in which research is conducted (beneficence);
  • Reporting of accurate results and publication of negative findings;
  • Access to treatment after research has been conducted, and
  • Restriction of use of placebo in a control group where effective alternative treatment is available.

The departure formally came when issues related to HIV clinical trials run in less wealthy countries seemed to depart from Helsinki standards. Rather than work to reconcile differences with Helsinki, US companies, and the US government came up with a different international standard called “Good clinical practice” - standards in place in the EU (codified as Directive 2001/20/EC), and the US (enforced as policy by NIH), all backed by Pharma.

The most well-known sticking point seems to have been the insistence by countries within which US-based pharmaceutical companies were testing their drugs that, at the end of any clinical trial, patients be given access to the best available standard of care for the condition being studied.

But that’s just the topic that people feel comfortable talking about.35)

The Role of the Virtuous Investigator in Protecting Human Research Subjects

Christine Grady and Anthony S. Fauci

abstract

In his famous 1966 New England Journal of Medicine article, Henry Beecher concluded that a critical safeguard for protecting human participants, more reliable than informed consent, was the “presence of an intelligent, informed, conscientious, compassionate, responsible investigator.” This article examines Beecher’s appeal to reliance on the “virtuous” investigator in light of the critical role that investigators play in research ethics and the systems of research protections that have been developed since Beecher’s writing.

It addresses the extent to which research ethics rely on virtuous investigators; the meaning of virtuous, as distinct from compliance with the rules and regulations that guide ethical research; the particular virtues that it might be important for investigators to have; and the impact of the existing system of human subjects protections on the virtuous investigator. The virtuous investigator who is motivated to take ethical responsibilities seriously is an essential safeguard for the protection of human research participants and an important complement to the system of oversight protections. However, since the current human subjects protection system does not promote virtue or ethical resourcefulness by investigators, attention to enhancing a culture of professional responsibility might serve to forge a synergy between the protections afforded by the current oversight system and those provided by the virtuous investigator. [End Page 122]

Unfortunately, the current human subjects protections system has had the ironic effect of diminishing explicit reliance on the virtuous investigator and in some cases alienating investigators. Strategies that synergize the regulatory protections with a more rigorous culture of responsibility among investigators could help restore a healthier balance.36)

Fauci Retirement

In August 2022, Fauci announced that he would be retiring from his positions in the federal government at the end of the year. Bill Gates tweeted “Tony, you were an amazing public servant long before COVID-19 struck – and now you are a hero to millions of people, including me.”38) Kentucky Senator Rand Paul warned Fauci that his retirement would not prevent him from cooperating in what will ostensibly be a “full-throated investigation” into the origins of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the public health crisis that followed.39)

I am announcing today that I will be stepping down from the positions of Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, as well as the position of Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden. I will be leaving these positions in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career.

It has been the honor of a lifetime to have led the NIAID, an extraordinary institution, for so many years and through so many scientific and public health challenges. I am very proud of our many accomplishments. I have worked with — and learned from — countless talented and dedicated people in my own laboratory, at NIAID, at NIH and beyond. To them I express my abiding respect and gratitude.

Over the past 38 years as NIAID Director, I have had the enormous privilege of serving under and advising seven Presidents of the United States, beginning with President Ronald Reagan, on newly emerging and re-emerging infectious disease threats including HIV/AIDS, West Nile virus, the anthrax attacks, pandemic influenza, various bird influenza threats, Ebola and Zika, among others, and, of course, most recently the COVID-19 pandemic. I am particularly proud to have served as the Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden since the very first day of his administration.

While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring. After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field. I want to use what I have learned as NIAID Director to continue to advance science and public health and to inspire and mentor the next generation of scientific leaders as they help prepare the world to face future infectious disease threats.

Over the coming months, I will continue to put my full effort, passion and commitment into my current responsibilities, as well as help prepare the Institute for a leadership transition. NIH is served by some of the most talented scientists in the world, and I have no doubt that I am leaving this work in very capable hands.

Thanks to the power of science and investments in research and innovation, the world has been able to fight deadly diseases and help save lives around the globe. I am proud to have been part of this important work and look forward to helping to continue to do so in the future. 40)

Pandemic Profits

Dr. Fauci and wife’s wealth ‘skyrocketed’ by $5 million during pandemic: analysis New York Post - By Natalie O'Neill - September 29, 2022

Dr. Anthony Fauci and his wife’s net worth grew by $5 million during the COVID-19 pandemic as thousands of US residents struggled financially, according to a government spending watchdog group.

The combined wealth of the 81-year-old retiring director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and his bioethicist wife, Christine Grady, soared from $7.5 million in 2019 to $12.6 million at the end of 2021, according to a report from the non-profit OpenTheBooks.

“Despite becoming a figure of controversy, the system has rewarded Dr. Fauci handsomely,” the group’s CEO, Adam Andrzejewski, told Fox News Digital. “While Dr. Fauci has been a government bureaucrat for more than 55 years, his household net worth skyrocketed during the pandemic.”

The couple’s wealth boost was due in part to major salary increases, cash awards and royalties, according to the report.

“Fauci’s soaring net worth was based on career-end salary spiking, lucrative cash prizes awarded by non-profit organizations around the world and an ever-larger investment portfolio,” Andrzejewski said. 41)

On September 14, 2020, Senator Rand Paul sparred with Fauci telling him that the public will learn where Fauci gets his royalties from.42)

Dr. Anthony Fauci Deposition

Techno Fog December 5, 2022 - The FAUCI Deposition Transcript Contradicts, Lies, and “I Don't Recalls” from the nation's most malignant doctor

Today, Missouri Attoney General Eric Schmitt released the transcript of the testimony of Dr. Anthony Fauci. As you might recall, Fauci was deposed as part of an ongoing federal lawsuit challenging the Biden Administration’s violations of the First Amendment in targeting and suppressing the speech of Americans who challenged the government’s narrative on COVID-19.

Here is the Fauci deposition transcript. 43)

AG Eric Schmitt tweeted “The phrase “I don’t recall” was prominent in Fauci’s deposition. He said it a total of 174 times”

For example, Fauci couldn’t remember what anyone said on a call discussing whether the virus originated in a lab.

During that same call, Fauci couldn’t recall whether anyone expressed concern that the lab leak “might discredit scientific funding projects.” He also couldn’t recall whether there was a discussion about a lab leak distracting from the virus response. Fauci did remember, however, that they agreed there needed to be more time to investigate the virus origins - including the lab leak theory.

What else couldn’t Fauci remember? Whether, early into the pandemic, his confidants raised concerns about social media posts about the origins of COVID-19.

Yet Fauci did admit he was concerned about social media posts blaming China for the pandemic. He even admitted the accidental lab leak “certainly is a possibility,” contradicting his prior claims to National Geographic where he said the virus “could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated.” 44)
