Wexner was born in [[united_states:ohio:Dayton]], [[united_states:Ohio]] on September 8, 1937.((//Leslie H. Wexner.// (2021, February 19). His father was born in [[Russia]]; his mother was the first member of her immigrant family to be born in the [[United States]]. 

After working for a number of major department stores, the elder Wexners opened a small clothing store of their own in Columbus, Ohio named Leslie’s.

Leslie graduated from [[Ohio State University]] with a business degree and served in the [[Air National Guard]] before returning to [[united_states:ohio:Columbus]] to consider his career options.

=== Victoria's Secret ===

Wexner purchased [[Victoria’s Secret]], a small [[united_states:california:San Francisco]] chain headed into bankruptcy, from [[Roy Raymond]] in 1982 for $1 million.
